We found a place right on the sea front and we have a great ocean view out of our window.
went for a really long walk down the huge beach, and it rained, so we had to use our rain capes for the second time on this trip, (first time was in costa rica), shouldn't complain we have been really lucky with the weather. In particular, just a week after we left Belize it got hit by a hurricane, the first of the season , called Alex, so good timing.
The coast line of Oregan is really nice, and the weather is just like in England. Driving down the coast with hills and pine forests on one side and huge beaches with big waves on the other it is a bit like Cornwall and Scotland combined. The towns are like our seaside towns, loads of fish restaurants and tourist type shops.
It's a really nice place, not like southend...
Next day we headed off down the coast to Newport, we booked into another place with a great ocean view. The guy on the desk was a bit weird, the rate for the room started at a very special rate for english people $179, we didn't like the rate and said we only paid $100 for a place similar to this last night. The miraculously the new special rate for English people went to $109, so we checked in.
Newport is great, the harbor area is where it all happens, loads of nice places to eat (we went to Mo's) the clam chowder and fish were great. Then we were just getting back in the car when we heard the sea lions bellowing, so we went to have a look.
Later it was on the beach for a long walk and some sand writing.
