Went out for an early morning boat ride to see some
wildlife, saw Caiman (like a croc only much cuter, with sticky out eyes). Then
it rained, boy did it rain.. glad we took the waterproofs.

Stitting on the balcony now after breakfast waiting for the
rain to stop so we can go out again.

Mario (our guide) just told us a great story about the time
he lived in the forest, and how he found out
that trees can walk,Yes that's right trees that walk. He also told a
story about how a joke he was going to play on his friends backfired on him a
bit when the boa constrictor he found and was carrying started to get a strong
grip on him and he couldn't get it off.

Hope the rain stops soon....

It did eventually stop and we got back in the boat at about 11:30. This was the best trip, we saw howler monkeys and Spider monkeys. A couple of quite big caiman and loads of herons of all types.

It didn’t rain so that was also good.

This is our last night here, and we are off to Arenal volcano tomorrow. Tortuguero is a nice place to spend a few days, there are loads of lodges around the canals and i would think it gets really busy here when the turtles are nesting from july to November. Laguna lodge is good, loads of food and it is good quality buffet style eating. Beers are $4 each for local Imperial beer and $5 for beers like corona and other imported beers. Strangely they don’t put any prices on their drinks menu.
