Our intention when we booked our trip to Lanzarote was to relax, relax and relax.

That was exactly what we did.

We booked 18 nights in a private villa in Playa Blanca through a website while we were in Beijing a coupld of weeks earlier. We booked the flights via the internet and then the hire car, guess what, via the internet. This was a true test to DIY internet holidays and it all ran smoothly.

Our villa was a two-bedroom place with a private pool, satellite TV, DVD player, dishwasher, washing machine and a great modern / spanish decor (PICS). The only reason we left the villa was to go to the local town and stock up on provisions. We didn't eat out at all, the novelty of being able to cook for ourselves after 18 months on the road was much more of a treat than eating in some restaurant and having to pick somehting off a menu.

The most eventful part of our 'holiday' was Andrew getting toothache, which meant we had to find an english speaking dentist and get a root canal done on our insurance. It actually worked out cheaper than getting it done at home so in that way it worked out well.

And that was it. We saw nothing of the island, other than the 35 minutes of scenery that we passed between the airport and the villa.

IT WAS GREAT!!!

It was just off the main square in Playa Blanca town - off the car park as the road turns to go back out of town - quite a few cafe / restaurants opposite. can't remember the name sorry.
