I went for a relaxing walk today along the river at dusk. I was listening to my playlist on my i-pod that I listen to when I want to relax. I call the playlist "Zen". But I digress, by chance a song came on from Lord of the Rings, the song from the scene where the Ents are marching down the hill toward Isengard and again reprised when the Riders of Rohan charge down the hill to save Helm's Deep. Forgive my moment of geek there, because the song is a very beautiful and dramatic piece of work featuring a very talented boy’s choir. This song happened to come on right as I was approaching the old Roman aqueduct, just as it was beginning to appear out of the darkness between the trees. It was so dramatic and so beautiful, approaching and then passing under these ancient pillars lit only by moonlight, whilst listening to this beautiful and dramatic music, which conveyed a sense of beauty, melancholy and wonder that perfectly reflected the image and feeling of these old Roman structures standing idle in the forest. Twas my epic moment of the day.
