Today is our last day in Kyoto. We had grown very fond of this city. It seemed to me anyway that when I think of Japan at its purest, this is the kind of city I envision.

We start off our day visiting Tenryu-ji Temple. This temple is famous for its beautiful garden, and gorgeous architecture and I can definitely see why.

The rest of the temple and surrounding garden is beautiful and extremely charming. The highlight of it all was the bamboo grove directly to the left of the garden exit. It is breathtaking, especially as it sways in slight wind. There is something almost mystical about this place. I remember walking through it thinking that I know that someday I will look back and remember this exact place and time and what I was doing, and it made me feel very fulfilled at that moment.

As it was our last day in Kyoto, we resolved also to visit the downtown area, and see Kyoto Tower and the city, as a contrast to all the temples and historical sites we'd seen so far.

Downtown was a very modern area. To our disappointment though, Kyoto Tower's observatory was closed and we could not take in the night skyline. We had a nice Japanese Starbucks coffee outside, and enjoyed the warm night.

Tomorrow comes, Hakone - right next to Mount Fuji! And then afterwards, our journey culminates in Tokyo!
