Since my friend Gavro was a top banker and economy his eternal love and I covered finances and economy (the most marginal of subjects for the general readership of a communist daily, but sensitive, damn) it was normal that he went enthusiastic when we had begun approaching, after few snaps in front of Daniel Webster's cottage, the mountain resort of Bretton Woods. When it finally emerged - it was obvious that they well knew to work in comfort and seclusion while devising the gold standard way back in 1945.
This part of the United States feels like densely filled with significant historic references. And it is physically beautiful. Driving is pleasure, accommodation is easy to find and inexpensive and the colors of mid September are just as thrilling as those around the Shenandoah Valley in October.
We set to have coffee and enjoy the vista from the main terrace.
