Carcassonne and the Cathars (les Catharees) had buzzed around my plan for the trip to Spain for quite some time. The Cathars are ideological brothers of our medieval socialist brethren known as Bogomili or Bogumili (Dear to God) who were persecuted and freely slaughtered like cattle by the might. Since the Serbs were pushing their luck with the French irrationally imagining that the Galls were courageous only in the imagination of Goscinny and Uderzo. But then, somebody needed to take Milosevic on a history trip to Montsegour fortress so that he understood easier that the French were and still are rather tenacious and merciless and that they have always been very resourceful in putting people to death or keeping their chip up.

What one sees out there is immensely impressive. The city itself is packed with young and old tourists from all over the world. The beaches of Cap d'Agde and the nudes of the world are so close by. So is the Spanish coast, cheap places like Lloret del Mar and fine hotels like Santa Marta. And then comes Barcelona less than 300 km on a super fast road.
So, Carcassonne and Montsegur got fixed on the itinerary. Here come my impressions from the sojourn there.
