We spent the day hiking around Taggart and Bradley Lakes. The hike was relatively flat and easy with beautiful scenery along the way. We also had the pleasure of seeing lots of people that saw bears. Twice on this hike, we saw people who had just seen them and twice we had JUST missed them.
After the hike, we headed to Signal Mountain Summit to watch the sun set. We were about an hour early so we just sat and stared at the view until the sun had set and then headed back down towards Jenny Lake. As we were winding down the mountain, we saw at least 5 cars and a ranger stopped on the side of the road. Hoping that we would finally have our chance to see a bear (or any wildlife for that matter), we pulled over to see what everybody was looking at and, seeing nothing, we asked the ranger.
AGAIN we missed a bear...except this time it was a mother and her two cubs. The pain of missing five bears in a day is almost unBEARable (sorry...it was too good to pass up). Hopefully we will be luckier in Yellowstone.
