Got off the train in Monte Carlo on our way from Cinque Terre to Cannes. BEWARE!!! There is NO place to leave baggage in the Monte Carlo train station. There is a hotel 10 minutes away that will let you leave it, but just make it a day trip and don't bring bags with you. Plus, it's too expensive to stay there anyways.

The Yachts in the harbor and the cars outside the Casino made the entire trip worth it. There yachts, all registered in the Cayman Islands, were some of the biggest I have ever seen, with 10 man crews, just to keep it sparkling clean. Definitely over a hundred feet long, 4 or 5 decks, and probably more square footage than my house...And there were a dozen of these massive ships in the harbor. While I would love to have one, or love to have a very good friend who has one, I couldn'y imagine just using it for yourself or a couple or even a family. You need a party of at least 10 on board to really enjoy it.
Anyways, check it out. Opulence at its finest.

Then we headed to the Casino, which itself isn't that impressive. We paid the 10€ to get in but it's actually kinda small. It's cool and all, and you want to see it once, cause it was one of the first casinos and one of the richest, but it was only like 3 roulette tables, 2 blackjack tables, a small room of slots, and 2 french card games which we didn't understand. One of the blackjack tables was a 500€ minimum, so we watched some rich guys throw away lots of money there. There are a lot of smaller private rooms in the back, but we didn't have the portfolio necessary to go in there.

I forgot about the parking lot. A half dozen Bentleys, another half dozen Rolls Royces (some vintage convertibles), a few ferraris, 2 brand new BMW M6s which are real hot and a Mercedes McLaren SLR (Which Phil had heard about, but thought it was a myth). The doors open up like a lamborghini and the engine purrs like you've never heard before. It was quite a sight.

Monte Carlo is real ritzy and not as small as you think. We didn't see Prince Albert but his picture is everywhere. Check it our for a few hours. That is all our budget could manage.

Portfolio
Hm. What kind of sketchy portfolio do you need to get in the backrooms???

...sounds very luxurious :)

Re: Portfolio
I meant monetary portfolio. I am not rich enough to get into the private rooms of the Monte Carlo Casino. HAHA
