We have left the rain behind in Vacoas and are now at Trou aux Biches, a small fishing village in North West Mauritius. We are renting a two floor apartment about 10 minutes walk from the pubic beach. We do not have our rental car anymore. At first, we thought it was a little far to get to the beach but we are now used to the walk into town. Actually, we do not spend too much time at the beach here, we have been taking the bus to Mont Choisy or to Grand-Baie or Péreybčre as the beaches there are nicer and less crowded. Public transport is very cheap; it costs just over $2 for all of us. The bus rides are also entertaining. They rush you in and out of the bus and the drive is just crazy. The drivers just carene down the narrow narrow streets at break-neck speeds.

For the most part, we have just been going to the beach and relaxing every until 5pm and then heading home for dinner. We are pretty good at finding our way around Trou aux Biches and we have even found a great little bakery just a few minutes away. We are going to be here for another two weeks. Today is Shaylagh birthday and we've spent the whole day at the beach at Pereybere. We will be going back home for cake from the local bakery.
