I must say Spain was not the first place I always wanted to visit, maybe because I found a cliche to go to Spain, now that that`s one of the favorite spots for Colombians to visit and also because I had the idea that it would not be very different from my home country. I was not that mistaken however I have very special memories of that trip.
OK, I arrived in Madrid at the end of the winter, in a cold winter morning. I never experienced that much cold in my life before. I spent some days in Madrid but I spent most of my three weeks holiday in Salamanca, Valladolid, Avila, Toledo and Zamora. I think I was lucky because each of these beautiful cities showed me a little something of Spain, a country I would visit five or six times more in the coming years.
Madrid seemed to me as a big cosmopolitan city showing a past of wealth and power. I got amazed of how beautiful that city was. I enjoyed walking in their busy animated streets and doing shopping in some of its numerous shopping centers. I loved also to visit museums and to see the works of artists I very much admired as Picasso, Goya, el Greco.
