It's so beautiful today that we decide to soak up some sun on the beach. Upstairs to change into our swimwear, then down to the sand, grab a few towels and lounge chairs, and pick the perfect spot to tan all day.
The sun overhead envelopes me and I rush to smooth suntan lotion on my skin to protect it from the intense rays. After an hour in the sun, flipping over like a pancake to prevent "overcooking" on either side, I'm ready to cool off in salty waters. The waves of the Atlantic rush on shore and brush over my toes with a lukewarm caress. Michael has ventured out quite far beyond the sandy waves and into the cool green expanse of the ocean. I prefer to remain close to the shore. I dip in just waist-high and then let the waves push me back to shore.
Kristin joins us after class. We chill for a few hours. Pina Coladas and Daquiris on the beach. A "virgin" drink for her, of course. She's still only 19. She passes Globetrotter test #2 - ready and willing o chill at a moment's notice and leave everything else behind for a brief time. Here come the rain clouds; so we head inside to shower and change and head up to " Wet" for sushi. An open-air restaurant on the terrace level of the hotel. It's raining tonight. Thank goodness for the vinyl flaps on the sides of the restaurant.
The sushi is fabulous.
Kristin is on a roll as she passes Globetrotter test #3 - you must love sushi. We enjoy a good, long talk about life and growing up and the people who shape our lives and what we hope for the future. I see my girl growing up right before my eyes. The music is pretty funky. Michael is really diggin' Shaggy's reggae-style version of Marvin Gay's hit, "Let's Get it On." Kris and I are bouncing to the theme song from the movie "Austin Powers." It's a perfect evening; but someone has to go to class in the morning. After dinner we call Francis, the taxi driver, to shuttle Kris back to campus.
Breakfast at Tangerine again and a leisurely walk on the beach afterwards. What a fabulous day. William was right. We experience yet another beautiful landscape painted by God.
