In exactly one week from today, Anita and I will be off once again to the Caribbean - this time to Montego Bay, Jamaica. This trip is a surprise to her in celebration of her birthday. Last year this time we were in preparation for our ski trip to Steamboat Springs, CO. But this year, we decided to spend the cold month of January in a much warmer place.

I've never visited Jamaica, even though I've heard so much about it's beauty, and have always wanted to go there. The planning of this trip started about a month ago when Anita mentioned that she wanted to go someplace fun for her birthday. She mentioned that the Martin Luther King Day weekend would be an ideal time to get away for a few days.

Interestingly, on the day she mentioned that, I received a special invitation from one of the online travel sites that I frequent, offering a travel package for two at a brand new resort. I couldn't resist taking advantage of this trip. So in no time flat, I had booked us at the Grand Bahia Principe in Montego Bay, an all-inclusive resort that isn't even completely built yet. But I didn't tell Anita all of the details.

I mentioned that we would be going away for MLK Day weekend. But that was all I would tell her. I must admit, she's been a pretty good sport about it, not asking too many questions. I think she likes surprises as much as I do.

So here we are, a week away from departure, and Anita doesn't know a thing about the trip. All I have told her is that she should pack her passport and a swimsuit. That's really all she needs to know right now. But I think the suspense is getting to her a bit. She's been asking questions here and there. I'm not giving up any information, but I am getting a kick out of her questions.

Lots of help....
I really like your blog. Im going to Jamaica soon and this was very helpful. Im glad I got to see the hotel up close. Is there anything I must see or do once i'm there? Did you get a chance to eat any local foods (served at the hotel). How was the ride from the airport?

Thanx again!

Oh, did you fly Air Jamaica?
