December 23, 2005: On our last day on the Nile River I thought it would be a good idea to send message in a bottle. I've wanted to do that ever since I saw that movie with Kevin Costner. So I wrote a little note and sealed it inside an empty wine bottle and, with Anita by my side, I threw it overboard the M/S River Anuket to float northward (as you might know, the Nile is the only river that flows south to north). I'm hoping an English speaking Egyptian will fish it out of the water and email me.

After a light breakfast, we boarded a bus that took us to the Luxor International Airport in preparation for our flight back to Cairo. Luxor has a very modern airport, and I was very impressed with the facilities and the security. Once on the plane, our flight to Cairo took a mere one hour, just enough time for a quick little snooze.

As much as I wanted to go out and explore Cairo, Anita was a little apprehensive about walking around the city. She was tired, plus it was kind of chilly outside. And with another week ahead of us, she didn't want to risk either of us catching a cold. So we just linked into the Internet at the hotel business center and then met a few of the folks who were on the cruise with us for a drink before turning in early. It was good to have a final farewell to all of the people we had come to know for the week we spent in southern Egypt. They were all nice folks. Mostly older than us. Many said it was a pleasure for them to see such a young couple traveling and enjoying this type of trip.

Some of them were headed back to the states. Others will be traveling with us to Jordan. So we are now enjoying the sights and sounds of Cairo, overlooking the Nile once again. What a beautiful sight. A perfect way to end a lovely stay at the beautiful Cairo Marriott.

Merry Christmas and thanks for sharing!
Michael and Anita,
I have been thoroughly enjoying and vicariously reading about your trip. It has been very educational and a lot of fun. The pictures have been fantastic (I had some problems with the brief video clip). Seeing you both in Nubian garb made me realize how much Michael looks like an Egyptian (Rameses II) and beautiful Anita like Nefertiti herself!
I think we need DNA testing here ;-)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas in Egypt, I am quite sure you did. First time I have been able to get to a computer all weekend, busy with the kids, blah, blah, blah..... I have enjoyed looking at your pictures and wished I was there. You guys make a great looking couple... I am excited for you on this trip. Kayla did say 'Auntie 'Nita' is in Egypt, did she see any temples? so I showed her the pics. I am sure by now you are in Jordan. Enjoy, I will try to get back on soon and see me wonderful pictures.

Re: Merry Christmas and thanks for sharing!
Hey Bill,
Glad to know you're enjoying reading about our travels. It is as much fun experiencing it as it is writing about it. We have lots of video clips, but very little time to upload. Once we get back to the states and time permits, we will place more online for all to enjoy.

Truly an interesting experience having dressed up in the local garments. We received many comments from several of the other guests who felt we had more authenticity in our attire than most. And several of the locals kept speaking to me (Michael) as if I was one of their own, which made me feel welcome and at home.

This has truly been a trip of a lifetime and we hope to have many more in the near future.

Stay tuned to our travel journal because as our name implies, we are globetrotters -- always on the road, always on the run, always having fun!

Tell everyone I said hello and we wish you and yours a Happy New Year!
