Some might wonder what one will do in the first weeks of summer before a huge trip. Youre in luck, because thats exactly what Ive done.

I went home for a week to celebrate my 21st birthday, it was a blast and two of my favorite people took me out that night. I hung out with family and friends and had lots of fun. Then i went up to North Dakota to hangout with my friends up north. I had some really great nights with many different people.

Yesterday night (my last in Bloomington for the next 2 months) I had a pretty fun day with my sister. She and I went to lunch with my awesome grandma and we played cribbage. I love that my sister plays cribbage because I have great memories of waking up at the cabin and my grandma/grandpa playing cribbage in the morning, noon, and night. She really is my little squishy and my bellybutton (yes, we are a little strange). SHOUTOUT KYLA!  I also got my hair cut (its SO soft) too. Last night, we had a very American dinner. Fresh made burgers on the grill, homemade french fries, and smores over the fire. I also had lots of yummy Bloomington tap water. Then we lit our Chinese lanterns and I am hoping to have mine bonk me on the head in Europe somewhere ;)

So for packing and prepping, I have been getting things ready for a long while. I am borrowing a backpacking backpack which is great. It takes the weight off my shoulders. And I have tried to leave space so i have room for souvenirs. I packed pretty lightly, like 3 shorts, 1 jean, 1 capri, 5 shirts, not much at all if you know me. When I go home for a weekend, I can honestly say I bring more home than I am for my 2 month voyage. So I have a backpack, a small cinch backpack for the beach/ walking around town and a small purse (thanks ThirtyOne).

My first stop is Oslo. That's in Norway for all you geographically challenged people ;) hahaha. My plane leaves at 1:45pm and arrives in Newark NJ, then NJ to Oslo. I love planes. I will arrive at 10am Norwegian time or 3am CST (7 hours ahead).

What I need from you all: I LOVE COMMENTS! So leave them often. Also, I am trying to think of "my thing" to buy from each country. I dont really want to do postcards and my key chains are a bit bulky with no purpose. I like the idea of charms from each place (thanks madre), what do you think? Any other unique ideas?

You could do hats. That might be fun. I still like the charm idea. Fill that bracelet!! Can't wait to hear all your great stories and see some great pix!!!

Have fun Christine - what a great adventure. the mom in me is a bit worried so be smart and stay safe. o.k. I'm done with that for the rest of your trip. I love the charm idea - especially since space is limited. Jeff and I always try to get something very specific to the country we're in - linens, pottery, etc. It's usually pretty easy to have things shipped back to the states. We just got the crystal hand painted bowl Jeff bought in Turkey - all in one piece - and he said it was pretty cheap. Looking forward to pictures and following your adventures.

Got your text and glad you made it safe to Norway. Get some sleep so you can enjoy your time with Uncle George and your cousins.

I'm late in getting to the computer and read the blog. Sounds like all is well and you're seeing new sights already. I love to hear all the history you are uncovering.I love the "short " Vikings. I wouldn't have guessed that. Thinking of you. I agree with Aunt Kathy. Stay safe. Wish I were with you as I know you are having fun. Love, Granny
