Some people say that non of this trip should be planned while others think it all needs to be planned. I have found a happy medium between picking out my destinations (well most of them at least), and booking some hostels too. For those that want me to "wing it," well that's really not in my nature, I like to have things in order when I can. And for those that want a minute-by-minute itinerary before I leave, traveling is unpredictable and that's what makes it so thrilling.

I have been packing lots lately and going on my final shopping trips to get everything that I need. I'm really not bringing very many clothes, hoping to buy some when I am across the pond. I am bringing a huge backpacking backpack with me. I will be checking it at the airports. It looks really big but it'll hold all my swim stuff, my shoes, my toiletries, and pretty much my life for the next 2 months. I am trying to bring darker colored clothes since it will cover sweat better and it is more European. However, I wear a lot of bright clothing, so a pink shirt my sneak its way into my luggage.  I even have a hostel sheet which is just a twin sized sheet that I will bring to cover the beds of any of the so-so hostels; you never know when the last time these sheets were used.

It is definitely a learning experience just preparing. For instance, I tried to over-prepare and I bought a train ticket. I returned it when I found out that the ticket was going to the wrong station and it would be MUCH cheaper to get it at the train station (or so says a bunch of reviews).

Please let me know of any other questions you have about my pre-traveling things.

Also, I know a lot of you are worried about my safety. I will have a phone with me that I will try to use only when needed. It is somewhat expensive to be calling or texting daily, but I will use it when I think it is necessary. For the most part I think I can receive calls and texts but it costs me money to send them. As for knowing if I am safe on a day-to-day level, I will try to get access everyday to my blog but as this wont always happen, I will be texting my mom each day I don't have access to a computer. Either she or I will say that I am safe on my entry called "Life is good" and she or I will be posting a comment daily or every 48 hours.  Just keep in mind there is a big time difference so some patience is needed. Also, if anyone knows me, I am a very sparatic responder/communicator. Sometimes I just want my space, sometimes I don't stop talking, either way, i will try my best.
