Our bus to Klaipeda was still a few hours drive, but it passed some beautiful countryside. What we had seen today of the Lithuanian countryside, was more of what we had been expecting from Eastern Europe - a simpler lifestyle - a lot of farmland, and much poorer than their western counterparts.

It was evening before we arrived, quite tired, and seeing signs to the hostel that we originally wanted to stay, nearby to the bus station, we decided to have a look. Surprisingly there was room, and it looked quite nice, so we decided to stay and cancelled our night at the yacht club (we were still a little concerned about why it was so cheap!).

We decided to wander around town a bit - it had a lot smaller feel to it and was much quieter than we had expected. This was, after all the third largest city in Lithuania. We passed parks filled with statues and people out enjoying the outdoors. The main pedestrian street was under going construction work, making it a bit of a mess, but we could appreciate its beauty nevertheless, with some beautiful old buildings. We found the ferry terminal after a bit of confusion as to where it was, so we were all prepared for tomorrow.

We saw some nice souvenirs in the shop windows, but it was too late for shopping, so we decided to get some dinner (Chinese - d'oh, back to western style Chinese) and then get some sleep. Although typical of dorms, we didn't sleep that well...
