I'm paying sales tax of 7% on my beers again. Something is wrong here. Oh that's right, I'm no longer in Montana. It is with watery eyes that I admit it, as I thoroughly enjoyed the lawless beast, from Glacier to the plains. It left me with a good taste in mouth, the church pastor from yesterday brought me popcorn and bottled water last night, had an excellent breakfast in Wibaux this morning, the only problem was the wind.

It has made me alter my plans a bit and take today off, more or less. The bar here in Beach, ND (trying to find out where the name comes from) is a casual place and the British Open is on. Tiger and Westwood are now both -2, Westwood has had a hell of a few holes, but we're not even on the back nine.

Needless to say I am enjoying myself. Doing a bit of broad planning and reflecting. The goal is to cross ND in four days beginning tomorrow. Starting here in Beach > Richardton > Bismarck > Jamestown > Fargo. It will be an average of 80 miles the first two, 115 the next. I'll be in good spirits if I can keep to that.

On another note, I can't seem to stop eating. I eat about 5000 calories a day, and I don't ever really feel full. I know that I use most everything I consume, but it is still frightening. Someone told me that Michael Phelps, that swimmer dude, eats 2000 calories for breakfast, as do I, but I think he's in a lot better shape than I am. It is a great feeling though, looking for food with the most calories, knowing they a) taste the best and b) will burn off by the afternoon.

The Open? Shouldn't you be watching the TDF?
