From Invercargill we went as south as we could get, visiting Waipapa Point, getting very close to two enormous Hooker seals, before Slope Point, the most southern Point in NZ. On the way Glenn had to drive through escaped sheep, we passed some farms that seemed to let their livestock roam free into the roads. We visited Curio Bay, home to penguins (we didn't see any) and fossil forests, we could see petrified wood in the rocks. We went to Niagara Falls of New Zealand, a serious disappointment (see pics), then on to Matai Falls and Horseshoe Falls. Catherdral Caves was closed so Glenn drove us on to Owaka, where we camped, the only guests at the motor park, right next to the water.
