Whitsunday Magic - 3 days and 3 nights! Arrived in Airlie Beach on the bus and in the morning went looking for a deal on a Whitsunday cruise. Queensland has been suffering from media reports following the floods and cyclone earlier in the month.

The beach is totally empty because it is jelly fish season and no one goes in the water!!!! It is very quiet.

This worked well for me as I was able to pick up a cruise at stand by price which was a lot less than I expected to have to pay.

The Whitsunday Magic was built in Turkey for holiday cruising. There were 25 guests and I got a cabin to myself which was very nice indeed.

The crew and catering were great and there was snorkelling in the Whitsumday bays.

You might ask how you go snorkling in the jelly fish season - well the answer is a stinger suit - which is a light weight wet suit, which covers most of you up.

We didn't actually see any jelly fish but it is definately a case of better safe than sorry. The reef was great we went to 3 different locations and the coral was looking great with loads of fish, all very colourful and a variety of shapes and sizes. No pictures but I am sure you all know what fish look like!  A visit to Whitehaven beach and a couple of easy island treks. The winds were light but enough to get the sails up, but they used the motors more than I liked but I guess it is hard if you have a fixed intinery.

.  The people on the cruise were a mix of age groups, mostly British but some Swiss, Gerrmans, Canadians and a couple from Brazil.

It was a lovely interlude after so much budget travel but it will be back to the Greyhound bus and YHA hostels or I will have to cut the trip short!
