A short journey down the coast to Hoi An from Hue with a couple of fun stops on the way.

Marble Mountain seems to be the marble mining centre for Vietnam , the main street is lined with monumental statue in marble of all colours. The shop are all selling the same stuff and the more you look the less you want to buy - I really like the Chinese Lions but they were too latge for the backpack

Hoi An is the made to measure capital of Vietnam, the streets are line with tailors and shoemakers. The tempation was just impossible to resist. After ordering handmade shoes and a blue silk dress made to fi all to be delivered that eveningt it was off to find the market.

Hoi An was long ago an international trading centre and still retains the old port which today is full of fishing boats and tourist boats, but there seems to be a small fishing community.

In addition to the port much of the old town has been restore and now houses great atmospheric srt galleries and restaurants.
