We had a wonderful ride over the mountains and saw the best Tibet has to offer, monasteries, glaciers, lakes and incredible mountain scenery. The roads have improved and are all tarmac so we make good time.

We stop at Gyantse which has the tombs of the first and second Dali Lama but do not have time to visit - another time maybe.

Lhasa is a modern town with little of the historical centre left, really only the palace - the largest in the world - and an old monastery surrounded by a Tibetan market.
