Im filling in the blanks of several weeks non-existent Internet connection.  So here are the high spots.

We had an easy run up to Portland from Portsmouth.  One thing we learned about Maine is that most every place has a "port" or a "rock" in it.  So we got up to Portland.

The trip up was easy....clear skies and flat as a pancake. ....no day for sailors....good day for trawlers.

Our friend mike and barb had set us up with a mooring ball reservation at Centerboard Marina.  We made our way north and began to see more rocks on the coast.  I saw the commercial channel coming up into Portland and began to stay slightly outside the marks in anticipation of a tanker coming in behind me.  It passed safely and before you knew it we were in Portland.

We chug up the harbor passing the low rise city.  We could see lots or bring buildings in the distance.   Before we knew it, we had tied up to our mooring.  It was the biggest tie this place had so we were on the outside.

Before we could hardly get the boat ready after a day's travel, we could see our friend Mike waving from the club's launch.  It was good to see our friend as it had been 6 weeks since we left Mike in Newport RI after the trip up from Bermuda on "New Frontier".

That evening, Mike and his wife Barb drove us around the area.  We were impressed by the dark green trees including a great number of furs and pines.  While it looked like Maine when we could see the rocky coast it looked a lot like north Georgia or North Carolina.  We had a great meal and then fell fast asleep at Mike's home.  A terrific bed was appreciated.
