So, we made it to the Windy City at 7:05pm pretty much perfect timing on Greg's part. =) I navigated us throughout the city with a map which was I thought, pretty impressive :p Aside from a mile of stop n go traffic. The traffic coming into Chicago wasn't that bad at all. We finally got into downtown Chicago, we drove over the river that goes through the city which was beautiful. The city of Chicago is amazingly clean compared to NYC. I can't wait to explore it tomorrow. So, finally we got to Greg's friend Scott's apartment in Lincoln Park. It's a cute little apartment for him and his roommate Morgan. They're both going to school to be dentists. Once we got to their apartment Greg and I showered and we all left to go to dinner. All I wanted was Chicago style deep dish and what better way to experience but in Chicago lol Anyways walking to the pizzeria was beautiful. I never once felt unsafe walking the mile and half we had to, to get to the pizzeria. The place we went to was called Lou Malnati's. We had a "20min wait" so we went next door to a place called The Barn & Co. to get a drink while waiting for our table. They served beer in mason jars with handles. I was in love. I ordered a Boulevard Wheat and Greg ordered some kind of IPA. Shortly after getting our drinks we got called for our table next door. We waited 10 minutes for the pizza. It was worth the wait! It came out in the typical deep dish pan. The waitress scooped our slices out of the pan . And there it was what I had always wanted to try. Greg and I ordered a 9in Lou which consisted of spinach, sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms and cheese. Boy was it mMmmmM goood!! I ate only one slice, Greg ate 2 :) we had one slice leftover which was perfect. After dinner Morgan, Scott and Greg shared stories of their snowboarding careers, while I listened. Hearing their stories made me feel hopeful that Ill have some stories up my sleeve after this winter. I can't wait. After we left the restaurant I wanted to go back to The Barn & Co. to purchase a mason jar. The gentleman that sold me my mug said he had just gotten back from Colorado and suggested we try a beer called The Colorado native. Not sure what it is but we'll have to try it. After we left there we went to Scott and Morgan's local hangout called Halligan's Bar. While walking to this bar I noticed many cars with HUGE stuffed mustaches on the front of cars and immediately asked Morgan "Is that a mustache on the front of that car?! If so, why?!" She told us that it's called Lyft, a ride-sharing app that enables users to instantly locate the nearest Lyft driver and request a ride. They're people that drive their own cars but with mustaches on the front of them which is pretty trendy and inviting lol anyways We got to Halligan's and had one round of drinks and headed back to Scott and Morgan's apartment. Greg & I were SO tired. We came home to Kylee greeting us in her cage. She's such a good girl. She peed and pooped before we let her back in, of course playing with ball (her addiction) after letting Ky out we came back inside and fell right to sleep. Tomorrow we plan on taking ky to the park, rent bicycles, go to the bean and go on a boat tour through the city. I love Chicago!
