Florianopolis- a little island connected to the mainland by a bridge.
We had a long bus ride to get here 18 hours, another overnight one, where we met two guys, Brian (aussie) and Craig (irish), we met them both separately as the night wore on but it turned out both guys were heading to the same place on the other side of the island, a beach called barre de lago, Craig having been there previously was a expert on which buses to take once we reached Florianopolis and he wóuldnīt stop saying how beautiful the place was, so we ended up tagging along with them, taking two local buses and another hour of our time to reach the area.
We arrived and the hostel was full, so Tim and I ended up getting an apartment for our two night stay, which was cheaper in the end than Brain and Craigs dorm beds, it does pay to travel in pairs
The hostel did have the best views though overlooking the beach and what a amazing place, our first stop in brazil and we were impressed!
On our first night we went up to the hostel to have some beers with the guys, i saw little geckos running across the walls and crabs running across the floor, so cool.
Our last night we went up to the hostel again and had a bigger night as there was a beach party going on and the whole hostel was heading out, i got absolutely bitten to death on my legs, all of the bites swelled up into bubbles and have taken weeks to heal.
We spent the days swimming on the many beaches around, also spending a couple of hours over at a beach, where they hold the surfing competitions from around the world, and the nights up with the guys at the hostel, it was sad to leave but we had pre booked accomadation in Ilha Grande and we were looking forward to heading there.
