I headed to Hong Kong for Chinese new year at the airport i was met by Melody a friend of mine who works there. We headed to my hostel and headed out to explore. First impressions were pretty good its a nice city with bright lights and tall buildings. That night I went to check out the light show on the harbor, the skyline at  the harbor is very impressive essentially its just lots of building and lights but it does look really special. I was a little tired that night after catching an early morning flight so after I went for some Chinese food I got an early night.
The next day I checked out the walk of stars, and then browsed the shopping malls had a few beers and had some great noodle soup at a little Chinese canteen which warmed me up a bit. It was so cold in Hong Kong i think it was like 7 to 10 degrees but it just felt so cold to me after being in hot climates for the last few months, well at least my fleece got some use. That night it was time for the parade so I headed out a few hours before it started to have a few beers and get in the mood, I found a cool bar where you got free nuts, they were so good and you threw the shells on the floor after you eaten them. I made my way back to one of the streets on the parade route and I couldn't get anywhere near it was very busy, I couldn't really see that much but the atmosphere was pretty good.

The next day me and Melody went to the Filipino part of town for some food there which was yummy, then we went around the shopping malls. We decided to go for a drink at a place she knew back in the Filipino part of town. We got there at 2.30 in the afternoon and it was booming, It was jam packed with people dancing amongst the smoke and the laser lights it was crazy for that time in the afternoon. I thought id better get a few drinks down me quick to get in the mood so I ordered a bucket of my favorite Filipino beer Red horse. It wasn't as cheap as in the Philippines but 100 hk dollars for a bucket in hong kong is a bargain. Later that day I had arranged to meet some friends who I met in Boracay a few weeks earlier for a few beers and then to watch the fireworks. I met Jeff, Stacy and Nicola at the station and we headed for a few drinks. It was good to catch up we all headed down to the riverside for the firework display, we stopped at 7 11 on route for some cans. The fireworks were amazing probley the best I have seen, and the fact that your in Hong kong celebration Chinese new year only adds to the occasion. MY memory went a little blurry after that but on the way home I saw 2 young Chinese boys playing football with a balloon so i decided to join in much to the amusement of the boys parents and other passers by. Every time I scored a goal I would pick one of the boys up and celebrate I don't really know why but it was funny the boy couldn't stop laughing.

The next day was my last in Hong Kong so me and melody went for a feast of Chinese food for brunch then we just walked around occasionally stopping for a coffee to warm us up. I said farewell and headed to the airport for my flight back to Manila. I had a really good time here and was good to meet up with friends. It was a cool place to spend Chinese new year. Its not the cheapest place especially accommodation but there are ways of keeping the costs down like buying beer from a shop or eating in local canteens.

I'm not sure of my next plans but I'm gonna get back to manila and decide from there everyday feels like an adventure at the moment and I'm loving it. Miss home a little bit especially when I skyped my brother and my niece Poppy and she tells me shes missing me, although I think she really just wants presents ha ha. But I'm not homesick and there is no way I'm ready to come home just yet. That's all for now will keep you updated of my next destination in the Philippines.
Bye for now.
