The day started early with anticipation of a response from my mentor. To my delight she approved my proposal and sent it to my committee for their approval. Hooray!!! I worked with my students and a pot of tea while JoRina went to the gym until almost 10AM, when I met with Thomas to practice the waltz for the dance competition. Several skilled dancers boarded the ship in Dubai that could elevate the spirit of competition. For me, participating in the event signifies my tenacious spirit. Especially dancing the waltz. We practiced for about 20 minutes in G32; reviewing my frame for the most part. It went well. I then walked around deck 7. The weather was ideal. The sun was shining, a gentle breeze blew, and there was no noticeable humidity. For a change I ate lunch in the Golden Lion and listened to a jazz band that played there. I then reviewed our course map on deck 12. We traveled around the Arabian Peninsula, between Yemen and Somalia in the Gulf of Aden.

I had a cup of tea with JoRina in the Atlantic room while she worked on her finals and did her laundry. We discussed the sentiment of world cruisers, and ourselves, as the voyage is winding down. What a wonderful adventure it has been so far. We've met interesting people, and visited iconic ports. Wow. We have enjoyed every minute. I returned to the stateroom for a afternoon nap. Unable to rest, I watched a James Bond movie and read about Egypt. Around 6PM we dressed (formal) for dinner in the Todd English restaurant and the Black and White Ball. The food was amazing. I had the scallop and mushroom pastry as a starter and paella for the main course, while JoRina had a salad and lamb. We shared a blueberry cobbler with our tea and coffee. Delicious and nice to dine alone were we could talk unfiltered about anything, and everything that mattered to us. We've had a grand friendship. After dinner she returned to the stateroom while I went to the Ball. I danced till midnight, and had a lot of fun doing so. When I returned to the stateroom we turned the clocks back an hour.

More later.

Beautiful posts adorned with wonderful photos. Well done. We've enjoyed your world voyage adventures. Curious what waltz music you have chosen for the competition? Remember posture, head position (the look), & right hand position . You'll do great; so enjoy! Back home on the island, the dance venues won't be the same. The local dancers do get spirited weekly at the Good Times Grill. What will you miss as you disembark the QM2?
