On our really long drive day we got to the outskirts of Teslin, Yukon. Stayed at a nice quiet lake spot for the night. It was a really long drive. The road was pretty beat up. I’m not sure if asphalt doesn’t work in this cold, there is permafrost up here, but they use something called “chip/pack”, at least that’s how I’ve heard it referred to. So they seem to spread out some black tarry like substance, spread gravel on top and then pack it down. Drives ok. Not bad when it’s wet. But when they get “faults” in them, they just throw more gravel into it until the work crews can get out and really fix it. Got our first stone chip in the window.
