Jan. 19-23, Blythe, California.

Yahoo, another bluegrass festival!! Blythe is a 2 hour drive from Yuma. Fun to be back again and see some of the folks we met last year. Opening ceremonies consisted of sky divers. The fellow who jumped is 70 years old and for his 70th birthday, jumped 70 times in 10 hours, a guiness world  record.

One of the bands here had been in Whitehorse to our festival, Cody Shuler & Pine Mountain Railroad Nice to touch base with them again and share a hug. Check out his website. Awesome!!!  A big wind/sand storm happened on Saturday and it was like a white-out snow storm at home….only warmer. Sure made for a gritty, sandy MH inside. Gord came home early to shut the vents. A few allergy moments due to the desert dust!!! Camping here is like camping in Walmart parking lot. We chose to camp on the edge of the parking lot, trying to keep away from the "deuling generators". Generator city here. These folks are unsure of how to dry camp, generators start at 7 a.m. and run until 9 p.m. We join the group when it's time to microwave supper or for Gord to have his special morning Kuerig coffee…with Baileys of course.

A great part of the festival is the jam sessions in the evening, some folks can play some mean instruments. At one jam session, the mandolin player came from one of the bands, Lonesome Otis, he’s blind and has a golden lab service dog. Koal and the golden lab, Gip, had a “sniffathon”, and then settled down and listened to the bluegrass music, sleeping side by side!!! Awwwww, how cute you say!!!! Koal gets many pats while we wander and listen to the jam sessions.

And……….there was even a quilt show there sponsored by the Bluegrass Quilters. Lots of neat looking quilts to get the sewing juices going. Of course they had some fabric for sale so I had to spend a few $$$$
