November 13-16, Lost Dutchman State Park, Apache Junction, AZ

We found this state park when exploring with Lindsay and she helped us pick out our site for when we returned. Another one of those hidden gems. The park is right at the base of the Superstition Mountains and desert and cacti all around. Still close enough to Apache Junction for groceries, etc. It was a long drive to get here….a whole 15 minutes!!! Gorgeous sunset views. Water & electricity. We've enjoyed our semi-dry camping and big RV spaces. There’s been lots of quail running around, coyote smells for Koal to sniff at on our walks. No roadrunners and haven’t seen any snakes. Thankgoodness.  Gord’s  still waiting  to see a Havelina (a wild pig).  The weather has been much warmer now so we’ve been geocaching and just enjoying sitting, reading our books and happy hours in the desert. Gord’s martini tastes better in the desert!! Also with the desert air, Gord’s asthma is 100% better. No more meds, just an occasional puffer once in a while. Yahoo. Life is good.

We head for Yuma on Nov. 16 and that will be our base until the end of Jan, with a couple of side trips. There’s a Balloon Festival happening  Nov.18-20 so we’ll probably go to that. Not sure about a ride but we shall see. We go to San Diego the weekend of Dec. 18 for 3 days for early Christmas with Gord’s sister & family. Just going over with the jeep. Xmas and New Years will be in Yuma. We hope to join in some of the park activities, I hear they have a quilt group once a week and hope to golf as well. There’s a par 3 course attached to the RV park we are at. We are hoping to have Scott come down for a visit in early January.
