Nov.3 - 12, Shiprock RV Park, Apache Junction, AZ

We stayed here with my cousins Peter & Joan last year and really enjoyed it here. Nice & clean RV Park, very friendly folks, many Canadians. We are here for the next week. Lindsay arrives tomorrow for 5 days, so it will be nice to see her. We hope to tour her around lots and send her home tired. There's a great flea market here, 1500 vendors, so we should be able to find something to spend our money on!!! There's a big desert sand storm going on at the moment, so the landscape and air is changing. Gritty dust and a 20 degree drop in temperature. We’ve been having close to 90’s so now down to close tom 70’s. Still beats snow and the temps at home.

Lindsay arrived and it wasn’t too traumatic to drive to the airport and find out where the hell we had to go. The security lady was very helpful and actually had us follow her in her truck to the parking lot we needed!!! And then our car top carrier was a little iffy going into the parkade. It got scraped a few times going in. When we took Lindsay back to leave, decided to drop her off at the door and not risk any more damage!
The weather wasn’t the warmest when she was here but we still managed to hit the flea market, go shopping, do a road trip and have R&R by the pool and swim. Our 4 hour road trip into the Superstition Mountains , Canyon Lake and Tortilla Flat, ended up close to 5 , kinda like Gilligan’s Island 2 hour tour!!! We decided to keep going once the pavement ended, 22 miles of gravel in and around the mountains, twisty, windy with lots of switch-backs, hilly road, no guard rails….Gwen was the designated driver. Near the end of the gravel it started to rain and then red dirt turned to red mud!!! Once we hit the highway, the road started to climb, rain turning to slushy snowflakes and only 2 degrees at the top of the summit.  Just ask Lindsay how much she enjoyed this ride!!!! (Glen & Duane you wouldn’t have been impressed either)  As we descended, the weather improved and the temps came up. It’s another one of those rides we’d like to do again but in better weather, but I doubt very much that Lindsay would join us.

It was really nice to have her here for a visit and we could show her what us "old folks" do in Arizona. One night at the RV park she got to be included in it all as they had a spaghetti supper for everyone at the clubhouse.
