October 17/11,Crater Park, Winslow, Arizona

Wow, an amazing journey to get here. We travelled through the Painted Desert and the Petrified Forest, a MH friendly highway. It was nice to be off the freeway and not dealing with all the semis.  The Painted Desert was a sight to behold. We had been here on our honeymoon (just a few years ago) and it was great to see it again. The colours were amazing. Flat desert highway and then all the coloured hills and then into the Petrified Forest. The petrified forest would be a geologists dream with all the different minerals embedded in the trees. Whole petrified trees lying on the ground and visible for miles.

The Crater RV Park is located close to a crater that was created 50,000 years ago. It's nearly a mile across and 550 feet dept.  NASA Apollo astronauts used it as an official training site as the terrain closely resembled that of the moon. Lots of history here. Very emotional spot seeing the American Astronaut Wall of Fame and those that have lost their lives in the quest for outer space.
