Onamia, Minnesota, Mille Lacs Kathio State Park, Oct. 4 St Cloud, MN Oct 5-6

Crossed the border at International Falls, Minnesota, so we are really on our way south now. The fall colours along the lakes have been truly spectacular. Every corner was like a picture. A state park with electricity & water. Wow. Only in America. It`s still Indian summer with the temps in the high 80`s (or 28C for us Canadians). Gotta love it. Sure hope is follows us south. Of course our first stop was a liquor store for Gord`s favourite rum and a scotch for me. Great prices, makes you think things were priced wrong compared to what we pay in Canada. Did I mention AA!!!!

In St Cloud for a couple of days to visit with a former vice principal of Gord's during some of his teaching days back in Swan River. We had a great visit with Gary and Betty and it was hard to believe it has been over 20 years since we last saw these good friends. Record breaking high temps here for the last several days. Yesterday's high of 89 broke a 134 year record. Pass the fan please!! Oh ya, we have AC in this rig....

Glad you are having a good trip and great weather! We are envious of your travels. We're going to Victoria tomorrow to run the half-marathon tomorrow and visit with my mom and dad, who seem to be doing okay at the moment, thank goodness. Have fun Gord and Gwen!!! Val

Hi Gwen --- So nice to see the pictures from northern Ontario. Your comments about your Dad's gravesite brought tears to my eyes. Your Dad was so good to my family and particularly all the times he came to Atikokan to pick me up to come for a visit with you and your family. I am so pleased that you will be able to have a marker placed on his grave to honor his services. When I see my Dad's it really makes me think about what these brave men faced during the war.

Have a safe journey and keep that blog going--I love following your travels.

Hey guys! The park was not the same on Saturday night without our new found canadian friends! Echo and I enjoyed your company so much. I hope your travels to Texas are going well, and can't wait to bump into you again down the road. Cheers, Trika (the crazy geologist)

Great blog Gwen and Gord. Fall photos are gorgeous. Bob is home from his bike trip. I had an amazing time in Austin City and the festival was super. New Orleans was a blast and Memphis was very interesting. Didn't make it to Nashville, maybe next time. Take care. Deb

Hi Gord and Gwen,
I am in Smithers enjoying the fall colors here. We arrived on Sunday night. Still jet lagged a bit but it is working itself out. We had a wonderful time in Greece and in Germany. I think after living in the Yukon you have to become a sun/heat lover! I just loved loved loved the 30+ temps we had for over 30 days in a row! It is cooler here. Oh well. Good to hear about your travels and to see all the great pictures. Stay safe and ---- easy on the booze,eh! Talk again soon. Caroline

Gwen, that drive through northern Minnesota is one we have done a number of times it is particularly beautiful at this time of year. Did you go through Grand Rapids? that is where Brenda Ruesink lives.
We are off to Texas again this winter, we will be on South Padre Island in January then Rockport Texas for the month of February. We are looking forward to getting out of the snow this winter.
