Fort Frances, Ont, Pither`s Point Campground, Sept. 30-Oct 3

Made a detour along the Trans Canada highway to stop at Falcon Lake, MB, where Gord`s parents had a cabin for many, many years. Many memories stopping at the lake. The fall colours here and along the way have been amazing. Also stopped in Vermillion Bay, Ont., to visit the Chandlers, friends from Swan River. Lloyd used to teach with Gord in Swan River. It was sure nice to catch up with them and renew the friendship. More wine….just about time for an intervention!!!! Thanks Lloyd & Anita for letting us park on your lawn!!!

Fort Frances was where I was born and raised and I hadn`t been back there for many years. The town has grown, but the paper mill is still there….still stinky as ever. Main reason for this stop was to see where my Dad was buried. When he died in 1995 it was a bit of a mess as he had a ``witchy common-law`` lady in his life. Won`t go into details, but when I returned back to Whitehorse, the funeral hadn`t happened yet. So I thought it was time to see where he was and say a proper good-bye. Imagine my surprise when I got there that there wasn`t even a marker on his site!!! I was shocked and amazed that she never took the time to do something nice for him. So I got in touch with the funeral home and Veterans Affairs and they are going to place a marker on his site. He`ll be honoured for his years of service in the RCAF during World War 2. Now I feel better. Rest in peace Dad.

Visited with another old high school friend, Sheila, there. This journey across the prairies has been one of those ``bucket list`` things, cuz you never know what the future may hold. Special thanks to everyone for the use of their washers & dryers and the great hospitality and all the memories.

Wow, haven't seen pictures of Fort Frances since the early 1970's.
The pulp mill was indeed stinky. Enjoy your trip!
