Where I stayed
Oak Creek RV Resort
Travelling to San Diego, what an amazing change of scenery. From desert to mountains, up and over!!! We went from 250' below sea level at the Salton Sea to 4190’above sea level at the Crestwood Summit on the way to San Diego. All uphill, 2 miles to the gallon!! Rugged country, but very pretty.
Our RV park is about 30 minutes from the ocean, freeway driving. We are about 15 minutes away from Gord’s sister Barb. There’s a back way if you don’t want to drive on the freeway! We went to the ocean on Thursday to look around for a hotel for the kids when they come to visit. They are meeting us here Dec.18.
Don’t know if everyone knows, but Gord and the kids are going on a Mexican cruise from Los Angeles, leaving on Dec. 11. I will look after Koal and the motorhome and have a mini quilt retreat with my sewing machine that I have brought along. Their first cruise was for Dec. 12, but it was cancelled due to a fire on the ship. Who’da thought that!!! So Lindsay searched and found another one. Gord will meet them in LA and then they all come back here for 5 nights and then we drive to Las Vegas for Xmas and New Years. Their hotel is close to Sea World and the beach so we can do some exploring. My cousin Peter and wife Joan from England will also join us here on Dec.18. They are renting a motorhome and will travel with us until Jan. 10. How cool is that. It’s going to be a fun Xmas.
It is quite different to hear Xmas music playing in the stores, see the decorations and yet have no snow. We have Xmas lights on the motorhome and a small ceramic tree in the window. So we are getting into the spirit.
We are in this spot for a month, so hope to travel into the mountains, do some geo-caching and visit with Gord’s sister and family. It’s a bit chilly here after being in the desert. We are whimps now!! We’ve even put the electric blanket back on the bed!!! But….it is still better than snow and 20 below.
Gord celebrated his 30 something birthday here on Nov. 24. (30 x 2 +3)!!! Had brother-in-law Herb over for a steak dinner and wine. Yum, yum. Today we went to Camping World with Barb & Herb. Gord was like a kid in a candy store, where to go and look first!!! So we spent a while there and did some damage to the Visa card. He got everything on the list that he wanted. Early Xmas gift!!

Glad to hear that things are cooling off for you. What is it, mid 20s (C) now? Here in Toronto we're not too bad, (11 C tomorrow) but I hear we're supposed to get back to normal (about 3 C) by the weekend. Anyway, I'm thoroughly enjoying your updates and only wish I was part of your convoy. Keep on truck'n (sorry, RVing) and enjoying everything along the way!
Best Regards!
Russ
We have had about 40 cm of snow here to date.....today it was minus 16 and minus 23 with the wind chill. Thinking California is the place to be. Have a wonderful Christmas!!!
All the best, Michael and Celeste
