So the Dead Sea is only a 30 minute drive from Amman, and as you drive down here, you can feel the air getting hotter and hotter..It's brutally hot out here...I guess being about 441M below sea level, that is to be expected.
Taking a swim in the Dead Sea is pretty strange..You can actually stand in the water and run (that's stand IN the water, not ON the water..only Jesus and Remo Williams can do that). It's impossible to sink..You can pretty much sit Indian style and still float above the water..Really cool.
But, since the water is like 30% salt + all kinds of other minerals (which are supposed to be good for you), you'll instantly feel all the knicks and cuts on your body because they'll burn like all hell!!
So we did the ritual covering up with the black mud along the shore and then bathing in the water. I've got some cool pics that I'll post one of these weeks. Around sunset though, the whole place is pretty eerie..It's quiet, lifeless, and absolutely still (no waves or movement). It feels like the Lochness Monster is going to jump out of the water at any second.
Dead Sea has been great, but the heat and flies are relentless..So tomorrow, it's off to Dubai (where it's actually hotter, but hopefully the flies are a little less aggressive). Maa'salama from Jordan.
