Our trip from Istanbul to Dubrovnik, Croatia was definitely a lot longer than we signed up for. After getting to the airport at 7am, we learned that our flight to Vienna was delayed, meaning we missed our connection to Dubrovnik. Fortunately, they were still able to get us to Dubrovnik on the same day, but barely. After spending the entire day between Vienna and a tiny airport in Zagreb, we made it to Dubrovnik just before midnight...Full day wasted..but that didnt stop us from having an awesome Croatian meal before hitting the sack.

A few things about Dubrovnik and Croatia: the people are super friendly and the language sounds to me like a cross between Italian and Russian..it sounds good though, trust me. The food is also great..very Italian actually, but with twists here and there. Most of all though, the old city of Dubrovnik is really something to be seen. There is an entirely restored old city along the Dalmatian coast that is surrounded by a massive wall. After walking through the city in the scorching heat, we decided to climb the few hundred steps to the top and walk around the city along the top of the wall. The views out to the rocky coast is really stunning. Of course, so was the heat and about halfway around the wall we decided enough was enough and bailed to the nearest cafe to chill out and admire how much exercise we had just done.

Unfortunately, our plans that night to hit the town were a bit interrupted by my introduction to food poisoning..Let me just say that it was a long night and I feel like I lost 10 pounds, but I still maintain that the food here is good..I think it was a delayed reaction to some Turkish food..

So unfortunately we only had 2 days in Dubrovnik, one of which ended up being a travel day..However, tomorrow we are taking the Jadrolinija ferry out to Hvar Island in central Dalmatia..According to Lonely Planet, Hvar is "a beautiful town on a beautiful island full of beautiful people"...lets see..
