Having dragged ourselves away from the International Dumpling Festival, we left for KL. This was our first experience of 'Asian Time'. The coach took a few hours longer than expected but it was all worth it to be driven by Malaysia's answer to Wario off MarioKart. I think they actually based the character on this man. He had the same voice, the same evil cackle and the same driving technique...
We found a pretty cool hostel that had food and cheap beer. Met some other travellers! Our first day here was action packed. Treated ourselves to brunch at the Petronas Towers, then went to the Batu Caves which were incredible. We then went to Masjid Negara, the national mosque in Malaysia. They gave all the women giant purple robes to wear which was quite fun! We went back to the Petronas Towers to do the Skybridge walk. You can't really believe how tall the towers are. We then got stuck in the rain in a cafe, but it was all good fun. The waiters all wanted to know if we supported Liverpool or Man U (no other choices given). I tried to take some cool photos of the towers at night but my poor old brick camera wasn't really up to it - the photos don't do them justice! We then ate a really spicy curry back in Chinatown and went to bed exhausted!
Today ate in the backstreets of Chinatown! No idea what the 'meat' was that we consumed but it tasted ok and at 4.5 RM I couldn't argue! Then we went to Independence Square and then the Central Market which was really nice! I went in there to buy much needed t shirts and came away with two dresses - some things never change...
Off to Taman Negara tomorrow for some jungle trekking. I am very pleased as I doubt there will be pigeons there. Kat is not so pleased as there will be lots of bats and leeches. Incidentally there seem to be very few pigeons in KL, so I give the city a big thumbs up for that alone.

International Dumpling Contest - lol!
I love the way you just dropped that into your sentence as if it was the most normal thing in the world! And the thing is - it is normal when you're in Asia, ha ha!!
Thanks for adding pics as well ;)
Here's to many more random events for you & your pal!
