So, I left Rustington at 1220 having fed and watered Monty, dropped a couple of very noisy cats off at the cattery and spent some time at the salon - ouch! TMI I know!
Easy journey to Ashford. The sat nav said there were queues at checkin, but when we got there, we found only a couple of cars before us. Got to the right parking area for large vehicles and coaches and had a large drink - non alchoholic of course! Then the hairy bit - driving onto the train. I've never done it before. David has always driven the car onto the coach and I have watched. It was OK. Then we waited. And we waited longer. Apparently the points in front of the train were jammed and we eventually left - backwards. And we went backwards all the way to Coquelles. Fine, so we now drive off. No! A car in the carriage in front of ours had broken down, The pling would not de-mobilise the immobiliser. That took some minutes to sort having to wait for one of the breakdown thingys to arrive.
So off down the road to Wimereux. We knew where the campsite was as we had used it with the hired motorhome. The only question was - could we get Monty through bearing in mind the weather and the amount of water that accumulates on the road to Ete Indien (campsite)? We decided to take a chance and take the road which had been flooded last time. We were lucky, it was reasonably dry. But it was 8.00pm. would the campsite still be open? And the answer to that is NO. We pulled in and looked hopefully around. Finally a lovely young man ( yes! I am being flattering) emerged from a mobile home and asked if we wanted a pitch. He took us to a pitch, took ID and left us to it.

It was a good night - wet, but we had a good meal, a warm van and an excellent night's sleep.
