One of the most visited sites in Lycia. Myra is located in Demre (sometimes called Kale on road maps), 30 mn from Finike by the coastal road leading to Kas.
On the right side of the site, a pretty well-preserved theater from the Roman period, and immediately close to the theater a Lycian necropolis; this proximity is actually remarkable: fifty meters between the theater and the necropolis, but probably about a thousand years between them.
A few hundred meters from Myra, the church of Saint Nicholas. This famous Saint was born in Lycia and used to be the bishop of this region. The church has been built in the 3thd century, and restored many times. In Demre its direction is shown by "Baba Noel" signs.
Try to visit Myra early in the morning or late in the afternoon for a quiet visit. Since several years, groups of Russian tourists are now coming massively to Demre to visit Saint Nicholas church.
You need about one hour and a half to visit Myra and Saint Nicholas.  After, you can relax on the Sukullu beach (small road on the left side arriving to Demre from Finike). Or you can go on to the ancient harbour of Andriake, two kms further when you leave Demre on the Kas road - follow the sign "Kekova boat" -
After Andriake go on  2/3 km to see the tombs of Sura on the left side of the road. There are no signs to indicate the tombs, but if you drive slowly you can see them fom the road, on the top of the hill.

Coming back to Finike you can stop at Erdal's restaurant, about 10 km from Demre, by the lake, on the right side of the road, and eat delicious grilled crabs. Not cheap (7 liras for one crab, and they are not so big)  but it's magic.
