The Kekova archipelago is one of the most beautiful places in Turkey. If you go to Lycia, you cannot by-pass this tour.
Simena, also called "Kale koy", is a small village, less than 50 old houses, in the heart of the Kekova archipelago. You can go to Simena only by boat (10mn) or walking from Uçagiz village (45mn).
In Uçagiz you can find a boat easily, either going only to Simena (20/30 Turkish lira - 2008 price -) or to visit the whole Kekova archipelago. It is a 4-hour boat trip going to the Tersane cove, passing above the ruins of an ancient underwater city, going to Simena to visit the village, the castle and the lycian tombs, and going on to Gokkaya where you stop here and there to swim in small coves.
In 2008 the price was between 150/200 Turkish liras for a medium-size boat (10 persons capacity). Expensive if you are alone, cheap if you are 4/5 or more. At lunch you can stop at Simena to eat fresh grilled fish (Palmiye restaurant has been my favorite since 15 years).
