We left on the 9:00 train to Frieburg. Because we had to pay for a train ticket, we were almost late for our train. Fortunately, the train was arriving 10 minutes later than scheduled so we had time to catch our breath before boarding. I slept most of the way down there. After we dropped our bags off at the hostel, we walked along a river that flowed through the town. In the city, we walked into the Münster, a church, and climbed all the way to the top where we had a nice view of Frieburg and its surrounding areas, such as the Black Forest. We could also climb into the clock room to see the bells and their mechanisms. Around 6 pm, we arrived back to the hostel and ate dinner. Because Frau Muelsch was able to make arrangements with her friend to watch the World Cup final at the Ganter brewery, we were able to see the game as it was being played on T.V. Italy won the game in a shootout after a 1 to 1 tie and overtime. The shootout was more exciting than the game even though it is not always the best way to resolve a final game. Heather G., Reagan, i walked around the city during the half time and we really didn't see much of the second half- we were fine by it as we are not really big soccer fans. The youth hostel in Freiburg was very nice and quiet but we had to share a shower and bathroom with nine girls! I worked out better than i thought, but i still did not get to bed until 1 am. I shared a room with Mel, Cie, Reagan, and Heather G. and from our room window you could hear the river running into town-it really made the nice much more peaceful hearing the rippling sound.
