Spent most of the day in Quimper today as it was only 2C and raining (with occasional pauses for hail). Wandered into the cathedral for a look around - spectacular place and we were greeted by the presiding priest despite the fact that we seemed to be interrupting a service.

We carried on mooching round the lovely old town and the market until hypothermia set in and we headed for a cafe. Once equilibrium had been restored we completed the exploration (despite the persistent precipitation) and decided that, discretion being the better part of valour, we would head to the hypermarket for lunch and a final shop for things to bring home with us (like the traditional stationery for school). And new wellies for Ben who discovered that his weren't entirely waterproof - thankfully we got there before trench foot set in.

Did I mention that it was raining? All day? This explains the lack of photos...

Anyway, we're all back in the apartment now, doing things that families do indoors during inclement weather, while the parents try to come up with ever more colourful excuses for not going for a swim.

Packing this evening as we have a very early start - need to set off at about 6am to get to St Malo in time for the ferry.
