Flag of France  , Brittany,
Wednesday, March 27, 2013

Still fairly cold here (although by all accounts not as cold as the UK) so (after Will had been to the boulangerie and ordered two baguettes, two croissants and two pains au chocolat in French as well as remembering to say thankyou) we went to have a look at the old town of Concarneau, about thirty minutes drive from Benodet.

Will had some homework to do (photograph a fortified town, would you believe) so took his camera. The boys all enjoyed exploring the town's ramparts, looking at the views of the port, and seeing what is probably one of the shortest ferry journeys in the world between the main town and the old town (all of about 50m). We the repaired to a creperie (surprise, surprise) after the seafood place we tried turned us away for being a party of five (first time that's ever happened). All three boys now very happy with the crepe thing, although nothing too exotic filling-wise. The town within the walls was very picturesque and virtually empty, which no doubt changes once the season begins in earnest.

Then back to the apartment (via the supermarche) for some down time and a swim (even Daddy, under some duress, went in today).

Have read all blogs......could not find not a good photo of all three boys though. One of them seems to 'act up' on every picture . Weather sounds dismal but you are getting about a bit and trying French things.
Keep enjoying!

How absolutely wonderful. I love this and love tracking your trip and hearing everything you've been up to (well, most things anyway!). How weird that a restaurant turned you away because you were a party of five! Won't try them again in a hurry -- or any other fish restaurant in Brittany for fear of ending up in Quimper hosp!!! So glad all's well and thank you SO much for sending me the link. Am going to forward it to Dad now. Lots and lots of love to you all, especially hugs and kisses for the boys because I know how much they love them!!!! xxxxx
