The white sand and warm waters of Perhetian Kecil are a welcome addition to our travels this week. While nothing can top the deserted postcard beaches of Palawan we are quite happpy to spend the week here in our beach hut watching the sunset over the South China Sea

They say the world is a small place and we found out last night just how small. Nine months ago while in Colombia we met a guy from New York in a hostel , we decided to buy a bottle of rum and see where the night took us. I cant remember where it did but I know it led to the worst hangover I have ever had . As we were about to order food on the beach last night the same guy was walking about taking orders, turns out he works here for a few months of the year and travels the rest of the time. We were delighted to see somebody we knew and all went out for a few drinks after he finished work...we decided to share a bottle of rum for old times sake and arranged to go snorkelling two days later and accepted the next day would be spent recovering from rum.

Snorkelling turned about to be amazing today, at one point we were trying to keep track of how many reef sharks we came across. Saw a turtle too and swam with it for a while before finding a deserted beach to relax on for the evening. Have decided to move to a small beach with only a few beach huts for a few days when we get the energy to pull ourselves away from our present beach hut on Coral Bay . Ahhhhhhhhhh....stress!!!

After a week in our beach hut it was time to save a bit of money and move to pastures new ,ie somewhere dingy and cheap. Jane awoke like a woman on a mission and came back having found a room 8 euro cheaper a night on the same beach so we packed our bags , said goodbye to our cockroaches and left our beach hut begrudgingly.
A short stroll up the beach we arrived at the Shari La Island Resort .. errrrrr.. cheaper and dingy was on the agenda . Turns out the manager took a shine to Jane and gave us a room over the beach instead of way back at the end of the resort next to the workers accomodation as expected for the same price. We have AIRCON!!!  The place is paradise as far as im concerned and not a bug in sight. We have our own private beach so we went snorkelling with baby reef sharks today, seems so normal to see them now. We also booked our bus tickets for Singapore for Wednesday evening so we will be arriving the next morning. Our last night bus. June will be a month of lasts I think. Anyways we have three more days on our last tropical island of the trip so we plan on renting a kayak tomorrow and heading to all our favourite beaches on Perhentian Kecil for one last time.. Yup ,, last this and last that. It will get annoying.
