No driving today! (well, very little) We actually slept in and were a little lazy this morning around the hotel room. It was nice to slow down a bit. We went our for breakfast to "Baba's Bakery" that's down the street from the hotel. We all had bagel/egg/bacon/cheese sandwiches and then took the trolley in Stanley Park to the Vancouver Aquarium. It's huge! We saw the west coast exhibits and the tropical zone. They have a butterfly and exotic animal habitat. We saw the sea lions, otters and a beluga whale with her one-month-old calf...so adorable! They have a lot of presentations by staff at the different exhibits. We listened to the one on the beluga whales, one on sharks and the dolphin show. There were five dolphins who did lots of tricks, and the narrator was very good. After taking the trolley back to the hotel, we drove over Lionsgate Bridge to North/West Vancouver and the Capolano Suspension Bridge and park. The bridge is 140m long and 70m high. It can support over 1300 people! We learned about the pioneer history of the area, took pictures with the totem poles, spoke with Aboriginal artists and then walked across the bridge. Capolano Canyon has a small brook running through it. At the other side, gigantic Douglas firs tower overhead. We walked between tree platforms on swinging bridges in the Treetop Adventures section of the park. It was like being in Ewok territory on the forest moon of Endor! They also have a Cliffside Boardwalk that offered excellent views of the bridge, canyon and brook. By that time, it was starting to rain pretty hard, so we got some souvenirs and headed back to the hotel to repack our suitcases and double-check that we had everything for the cruise tomorrow morning. Stay tuned!!
