More foul weather during the night and it was cold too. Autumn seems to have hit NZ very early. We checked out freight rates again and Steph hit on the idea of simply posting the stuff - a great idea, cheaper (just), but no freight/customs clearance at Heathrow.
Did the walk we'd missed at Huka Falls, first time round. Windy, but at least bright again. Then, northwards towards Hamilton. Stopped at the Orako Korakeiri geothermal site, otherwise known as "Hidden Valley". A short ferry across the river/reservoir to the remaining one third of the geothermal features, labelled as exceptional in the Lonely Planet guide. An interesting site, but not as good as Waiatapu.
We tried to contact Pete Heron in Auckland to firm up our planned visit to his Maori school.
Another BBH night in Hamilton, at J's Backpackers. So nice not to be in the van!
Having opted for the post office as freight carrier, we filled our handibox with a gradn assortment of gifts, serving dishes, travel books etc, etc, - now no excess baggage we, hope!
