Vanessa volunteered to drive us down to Miri to pick up our connecting flight to KL. The usual border formalities had to be completed, quite nervous for Vanessa's first crossing by car. Then the short hop into Miri Airport.
Fond farewells at the airport and then it's the first of 3 flights back home.

News of the Air France air crash was fresh in our minds at this point! Our journey to KL was 2+hours and uneventful, then we had to kill 7+ hours in KL before our Etihad flight to Abu Dhabi. We almost got transferred to a Malaysian Airlines direct flight to London, but this sadly didn't materialise.

Onto the Airbus 330 (same type as the crash) and 7+ hours through the night to Abu Dhabi.
