Futaleufu, Is a small town of approximately 400 people and the only reason for stopping there is to raft along the Rio Futaleufu. It's apparently the best rafting in South America, but after my near death experience in Banos in Ecuador a few years ago, I decided against this, but a few of the others on the truck went for this and had a fantastic time, that's about all there is to say about Futaleufu.

The following day we headed to Queulat National Park to see the hanging glacier. The sun had deserted us at this point and the rain fell. We managed to see the glacier from the campsite, but by the time we walked up to the mirador the clouds had come over and that was that. The walk was great despite the rain, but i was gutted not to the see the glacier up close.

We crossed the border the following day back to Argentina, the border crossings are starting to get tedious and we headed down the ruta 40 to the town of El Chalten. The ruta 40 is shocking, not much tarmac and full of pot holes. We camped out along the side of the road for one night, which was fantastic although very windy. we were treated to the fantastic show the following morning though, as the sun rose, it was if the sky was on fire. There's a video of it below.
