Hello Guys!

We arrived safely in Phuket from Ko Toa after the strangest journey ever! We had to get a night boat from Ko Toa (saves on accomdation costs for that night you see!). We werent expexting luxury, but certainly werent expecting just a room of 50 mattresses side by side in one massive cabin. It was literally a case of lying down next to a random stranger and going to sleep- no regard to personal space or prifacy at all! As is becoming a well heard saying out here, 'wouldnt happen in england!'. Needless to say the whole thing was so funny that no one minded.

We stayed in Phuket for only two days because its become quite built up and is not quite as beautiful as the beaches weve got used to. Cant really swim in the water because the waves are sooooooooo high and strong and its also a Tsunami risk area. We spent one full day on the island and hired a jeep for the day. As weve left the boys and were missing them, we named the jeep 'Joe' after our travelling buddy. We practically went the whole way round the island in Joe and did a great job of seeing all the island had to offer, which although quite touristy, was really good. Was fun to be a proper tourist for the day! We vistited the national park (swam in a waterfall), Visited a gibbon rehabilitation centre, played mini golf and generally chilled out. We ended the day watching the sun set on the south side of the island, with what seemed like practically the whole thai population of Phuket, who all left early when the sun set behind the cloud!

NOTE: Am determined to see a sun rise/ set before I leave Thailand- though as Im not the most geograpghical person, I keep having problems working out which way it comes up/ sets from. The other day in Ko Toa I stayed up to watch it and missed it completely, as it rose from the other end of the island! Typical me!

One of the things about Phuket which really stood out for me was the prostitution here as it is sooooo blatent! We were forever pointing out western men with thai women/ men that they buy for a week. It is so sad, as if the market for prostitution from western men wasn't there then the prostitution rates out here would be so much lower and women would find other career paths. Sorry to get on my soap box here, but Im so suprised by the blatent behaviour of western men out here, it makes me ashamed to be western. Anyway soapbox over now!

On our last day in Phuket, we had a torrential monsoon. Anyone watching us trying to walk around Phuket with our plastic bags, waterproof bags, gagools etc trying to keep as much of ourselfs and our posessions dry as possible would have laughed our loud (in fact quite a few people did when we eventually got the port for Ko Phi Phi!). Oh yeah and the thai people love dogs so much (they're everywhere) that on a taxi to the port we were treated to a play of 'Love me, Love my dog' on the taxi driver's CD player- Classic!

Anyway now off the Koh Phi Phi.

Love you all and keep safe,
